Tar Media Productions

Tar Media Productions was founded by the Caribbean-by-way-of-New-York Adrian Brathwaite. Brathwaite, aka Tarbaby, started it out of his boredom and dissatisfaction with his career as a successful stockbroker. "I worked on Bay St. [Toronto's equivalent of Wall St.] selling stocks. My first love was music, and I was totally disgusted the whole time I was doing it. I just wanted to create a vehicle for Canadian artists." Along for the ride on this groove machine are fellow monosyllabic headnoddas PRiNE and Plane, among others.

Jazz guitar noodling, hip hop bass-bumpin' Adrian Quesada tips his sombrero to both Herb Alpert and DJ Premier. Think mushroom quesadilla jazz, with enough funk to thump the trunk.

Modulor
Modulor produces abstract drum and bass experiments and abstractions for renegade Toronto based label Tar Media. His tight production fuses the ambient width of Mixmaster Morris with the loose junglism of Amon Tobin. A truly refreshing expression.
