Originally formed in 2007, Dublin's Autumn Owls released two critically acclaimed EPs in 2008; Insomnia Lodge in May and On The Trail Of The Disappearing in December. The band spent the next few years focused on touring, appearing at festivals like SXSW, CMJ, CMW, NXNE, Postivus, Forbidden Fruit, etc. At home the band frequently play their own headlining shows and have supported such bands as DeVotchKa, Early Day Miners, and Real Estate.
In 2010 Autumn Owls once again hunkered down to demo material for what would be their debut full-length album. For almost two years they wrote, re-wrote, tinkered, discarded, wrote and tinkered some more, until they had the 12 songs that would become Between Buildings, Toward The Sea (an homage to their coastal home of Dublin). They were kind enough to share an early demo of the song "Spider" for Epitonic's 2011 relaunch. In early 2012 the band spent three weeks recording with one of their favorite producers, Brian Deck (Califone, Modest Mouse, Iron and Wine) at Soma and Engine Studios in Chicago. While in Chicago they also recorded an Epitonic saki Session. They then returned to Dublin and mixed the album with their longtime collaborator Ciaran Bradshaw.
It was a pleasure for us to announce the launch of our record label in July 2012, with Autumn Owls being the first signing. The new album will be released in Ireland on October 16 and in the US on October 23 on CD, vinyl and digital download.
