The New Originals are a pop band from the northern Chicago suburbs. The innocence of their charming pop is partially derived from the fact that the median age of the band members is 17. In fact, the members were as young as 13 when group first formed in 2010. Their youthfulness is apparent in both their subject matter and delivery, although everyone’s musicianship, melodies, and harmonies are quite developed. Their sound is quaint and sincere, akin perhaps to a handful of artists from the Asthmatic Kitty Records roster including Half-handed Cloud and Welcome Wagon, or the artists from the K Records stable like Mirah and Tender Forever.
The New Originals played performed seven lovely tracks from their
repertoire including two from their their promising five-song EP Good Fences Make Good Neighbors which is available on CD and digitally. For more information, music, and merchandise from the band, visit their website http://theneworiginals.net.
