This time next week I'll be an uncle. I know, I'm thinking the same thing. Am I ready for this? Am I mature enough? Responsible enough? Granted, the kid, a little girl my sister has decided to name Virginia Tenison Stokes (and they'll call her Tenison) -- how southern -- will be located on the other side of the continent and I won't be playing a major role of responsibility in her life, but still, it's a big step for me.

For those of you who have followed the neurosis that has unfolded on this page for the last three years, you no doubt share my sentiments that the world is indeed is a better place without me spreading my seed. With that in mind, this kid is the closest thing I'll have to my own, and I hope you all share both my feeling of happiness and accomplishment at having brought this life into the world vicariously through the life of someone who lives 3000 miles away.

Tenison, these editor's picks are for you.
