Can someone tell me what movie I'm thinking of? I have this scene from a film stuck in my head. If I were to guess I'd say it came out in the last year or so. The scene is as follows: A wide, snowy city street with a blue-ish tint fills the screen and one of our main cast memebers lies dying or dead in the middle of it as snow flakes land on his suit. He's been shot or stabbed or something and, as the camera slowly draws out, looking down upon the scene, red cloth is drawn out and away from the dying man. This cloth is pulled out from under the body by wire or something and it's obviously cloth, but it's beautiful and suggestive.
Now, no one emailed me but I managed to figure it out: It's the scene from the opera featured in The Talented Mr. Ripley. This movie blew me away so much that I went and read the book. Both are worthy of checking out...
Speaking of things worth checking out, I went record shopping the other day and came back with:
