Paul Chavez is the mastermind behind the band Tranquil. These two tracks appear from the album ?To Reach+ the Heavens the Stars Must Divide?. Previous releases can be found on Paul?s own label Destroy All Music (great title, Paul!) which includes a split 7? with the band Wrong, and appearance on the Silver Apples tribute compilation on Enraptured, a 7"?on Giardia, and various tapes on obscure labels. Paul may also be recognized by some as being the publisher of his ecclectic electronic zine ?Faqt?.
Paul's music is a vast universe of different influences. There is Japanese psychedelic guitar mayhem, some Roy Montgomery, drone, Western percussion and flute -- its a ride that deserves a complete listen from beginning to end to fully appreciate. His CD is the most impressive and accurate collection of Paul?s work to date. A beautiful stunning record with the first 1000 packaged in a letterpress cardboard sleeve.
