This Smoking Popes record goes back to their roots of punk rock melded with pop. These guys have gone on to the major label battlefield recording pop gems for Capitol Records.
The Smoking Popes are, if anything, heartbroken. They have obviously been involved in some bittersweet relationships with girls and they are unafraid to tell you about it. With this style of pop punk music you can hear the obvious influences, but with the Popes you can also pick out a great influence from the The Smiths or more specifically Morrissey. So if you have broken up with your boyfriend or girlfriend recently or if you at least know what it feels like, listen to this fine record and then go ahead and throw those old love notes in the garbage.
