The Capsules
Urinine Records
Husband and wife Jason and Julie Shields once played in the group Shallow, who toured with bands like Garbage and Mercury Rev, played on an entire Lollapollooza tour, and had the most-added album on the CMJ and Gavin radio charts. They have since moved on to a fresh start with The Capsules, which also feature drummer Kevin Trevino, who also plays in the Kansas City Symphony. Listeners to The Capsules are inevitably transfixed on Julie's mellow vocals, which layer over unobtrusive guitar, bass, drums, and occasional keyboards. These quiet and minimal instrumentations provide the foundation for the sweet ethereal trips of Ms. Shields. This heartfelt trio released their debut album Reverser in late 2001, which showcases their early constructions of sweet and flowing indie pop.
