Speedking
Tiger Style Records
New York-based Speedking did some serious post-punk flailing during their brief career in the mid-'90s, which featured tours with Shellac, June of 44, and Six Finger Satellite. Band member James Murphy of DFA production group was actually the producer and live soundperson for Six Finger Satellite and moved on to make The DFA one of the most sought-after production teams in the world. So the band disappeared, but many are just now beginning to discover them. If you're a fan of the aforementioned bands or are into the brittle belligerence of Rye Coalition and the spacey sequences of Satisfact, Speedking will be a nice surprise. Especially now that Tiger Style Records has released the handy retrospective The Fist and the Laurels
