Serotonin
Bifocal Media
Feeling a bit gloomy? Perhaps your serotonin levels are a bit low. Well, this Murfreesboro, Tennessee math rock trio can jack them up back up again with their challenging, busy, cathartic brand of hardcore. Serotonin offers a volatile combination of agonized torn-asunder vocals, screaming pelvis-rock guitars, ominously meandering bass lines, and stuttering high-precision percussion. It's not all angular, ripped-up aggression, however; the band creates plenty of extra drama by occasionally drifting into extended, hypnotic guitar rock fugues, startling you the next time they explode. Serotonin's sophomore full-length recording, Universal Time Constant, appeared on Bifocal Media in 2001.
