Known for his multi-genre productions and all-around bona fide love of music, Philly-born funkster King Britt is truly an established dance music innovator. He is one of the most sought-after remixers in the world and has lent his skills to acts like Macy Gray, Tori Amos, Yoko Ono, and Femi Kuti. During the early '90s, Britt DJed under the nickname Silkworm with the jazz-inflected hip hop group Digable Planets. He then went on to release two visionary albums with his retro funk collective Sylk 130. Now under the Scuba moniker, King Britt blows the doors wide open with Hidden Treasures, offering a sound best described by the man himself as "a new approach toward music, one in tune to textures and spirituality." Hidden Treasures is a compilation of lushly layered house remixes that features new versions of songs by 4hero, Fantastic Plastic Machine, and Michelle Shaprow, among others. Most of these tracks have a light and fuzzy feel that makes them dreamy and danceable at the same time. With this latest offering, King Britt proves once again that there is nothing holding him back from crafting essential music long into the 21st century.
