Paul Oakenfold
Global Underground

As a teen in London, Paul Oakenfold was trained as a chef while he went around to various record companies looking for jobs. While he didn't gain entry into the world of music right away, he didn't let that deter him whatsoever. Instead, in '87, Oakenfold moved to New York to seek inspiration. He went from a courier position to an A&R position in little over a year, signing Salt 'N' Pepa and Jazzy Jeff while hip hop boomed. Upon returning to the U.K., Oakenfold continued his ascendance and exploration of dance music, especially in the trance vein. He created his own imprint, Perfecto, which gathered accolades from the go. Along with fellow U.K. DJ Nick Warren, Oakenfold became one of superclub Cream's resident DJs, attracting large crowds time after time.

Oakenfold also produced the standout Happy Mondays album Pills, Thrills, & Bellyaches, which is often cited as blueprint for indie dance. He has toured with acts like U2 and continues to dazzle crowds with his excellent musical selection and refined mixing. Oakenfold melds the acidic, tripped out trancey sounds and breakbeats with the more melodic, musical, atmospheric elements to create flowing aural odysseys that dazzle dance floor denizens from start to finish.
