Opposites are an experimental pop quartet from Chicago.
Guitarist Ryan Murphy and bassist/vocalist Nate Amos began the songwriting for Opposites while at school
in Burlington, Vermont. The experimental pop duo moved to Chicago in
2011, where they added drummer Kirk Harrison and keyboardist Jenna
Blair. Murphy often utilizes a loop pedal to reinforce Amos' repetitive
melodic bass and Harrison's minimal, precise drums, as well as to free up his
hands to provide more expression. Blair's improvisational Rhodes piano highlighted
the guitar and vocals.
After Blair's departure in August 2012, Cam Hecht joined the group as an additional guitarist.
