From the classic DC music scene. Grendel takes a tad of Fugazi and melds it with a funky Latin flavor to create an interesting form of quirky indie punk.
The Washington, DC band Grendel is another descendent of the brilliantly bright past of our Capital's punk underground. Grendel takes the sounds of the early Ian MacKaye-written, dub-influencedMore
Fugazi songs and mixes them with a stripped-down and somewhat quirky version of Jawbox. There seems to be a new order of bands in DC that take Latin beats and spy music and then gel them with the sound of disjointed punk a la the Minutemen and Trenchmouth. Grendel is an excellent example of the young breathing life into a classic music scene.
