From Safety To Where
Radical Records
From Safety To Where is a relatively young Columbia, South Carolina band. The band's overall sound stems from the fractured emotion of gloom factories like Joy Division, though their eerily melodic bass lines and sinewy guitars owe more to bands like Unwound. The threesome is rounded out by a drummer who uses only a kick drum and a snare. From Safety To Where convey their message with a shrill combination of recklessly searing vocals and high-frequency chops. The band's most recent album, 2002's Irreversible Trend is a great combination of indie pop and aggressive, fast, angular noise rock, a bit like Harriet the Spy.
