Formerly signed to Junior Boys Own, breakbeat god Martin Beaver (aka Fathead, Kerb Crawler, and Dylan Rhymes) is now going it alone on his own Blue Black label and a slew of others, including Humboldt County and Whole Nine Yards.
Martin Beaver first came to fame under the guise of Dylan Rhymes for the ubiquitous Junior Boys Own label (Underworld, Swag, Black Science Orchestra, X-Press 2, etc). Extremely popular with London's breakbeat elite, his singles "Naked & Ashamed" and "Humbphead" were subsequently licensed to a number of compilations. More recently, Beaver has released singles via Surrey's Humboldt County, London's Whole Nine Yards (with DJ Hyper), and his own label, Blue Black. Produced under the Fathead moniker, "Trumpet Mutt," "Skweeler," and "Armed & Dangerous," are dense with dark four-four beats, ingenious sampling, and a tad of disco pressure for good measure. Beaver has also recorded with Quinn Whalley as Kerb Crawler.
