The multi-instrumentist Robin van Vliet founded DubDate in the winter of '94 with vocalist Rob. This resulted in a series of experimental, film, and world-influeced improvisations in a rock band lineup. (later mixed as cut-up tracks under the name Great Dubs). DubDate is driven by the desire to create similarly spontaneous music in the electronic vein using a smaller lineup.
DubDate's electronics and acoustics always sound fresh, because of the pioneering way in which they record, program, and process their work. It's a delicate balance between knowing how to play an instrument and creating the spontanaity of sound needed to keep it fresh, highlighted by sharp programming and excellent, creative use of the sampler.
