Christophe Goze
Quango
Born and educated in France, world traveler Christophe Goze moved to Japan for almost a decade before settling down in London, England. But it is apparent from Goze's production that his heart lies somewhere between the Middle East and North Africa.
"Sirocco," as featured on the outstanding Quango compilation Mystic Groove, melds Middle Eastern strings with Balearic guitars and funky Thievery Corp.-esque beats. It sits comfortably aside Mystic Groove's other nine tracks from artists such as Nitin Sawhney, Black Star Liner, Dzihan & Kamien, Radar, and the aforementioned Thievery Corporation.
With Mystic Groove, Quango once again blurs the line between the music of the past and the future, in turn providing the soundtrack for a new global culture.
