Chris Nazuka and Tim Shumaker are in a class of their own when it comes to deep house production. Nazuka lives in Chicago with his longtime friend and recording partner, Derrick Carter. Carter and Nazuka form the Rednail Kidz and also record as Tone Theory. Nazuka's recent exploits include The Quiet Life EP with J.T. Donaldson on Nordic Trax, multiple releases for San Fran's notorious Tweekin' Records, cuts for the Dallas-based Fair Park Recordings (coupled with New York's Central Park), releases for Scotland's Soma (as Retroflex), and countless remixes for Virgin Records and After Midnight.
Tim Shumaker is somewhat more elusive, but no less talented. "Something Else," co-produced with J.T. Donaldson for Huntington Beach-based After Midnight, was a deep house anthem in '99 and made its way into the boxes of the DJ elite from Mark Farina to Matthew Herbert.
The Fred Everything remix of "Say That You Love Me," the fourth 12-inch release for Bombay Records, employs infectious female vocals, skippy beats, and nicely textured synths, making it perfect for the after hours vibe.
